Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's basketball team lost to Bridgewater 66-56 on Saturday afternoon.
Bree Spainhour and Macey Mullins scored in double-figures, and the Hornets outshot the Eagles from the 3-point line, but a fourth-quarter surge from the Eagles spoiled Lynchburg's upset bid.

Both teams only put up eight points each in the second quarter. The Hornets held Bridgewater to a 22.6% (7-31) shooting percentage in the first half.
A 3 from Brooke Cason and field goals from Sammi Sever, Mullins, and Spainhour had Lynchburg up 10 midway through the third quarter. The Eagles answered back and only trailed by two with 3:44 left in the third. Sever and Olivia Harris hit 3s to close out the third as the Hornets led by eight headed into the final quarter.
Kayla Ford tied the game at 49 midway through the fourth quarter for the Eagles. Bridgewater took the lead shortly after and closed out the win with a 17-6 run.
Spainhour led the team with seven rebounds. She, Mullins, and Harris had two steals each.
The Hornets (4-6, 1-5 ODAC) take on Wilson College at home on Friday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m.
