Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg baseball team took down Pfeiffer 12-4 Wednesday afternoon.
The seventh-ranked Hornets scored 11 runs over the final four innings in a 12-4 win.
After Pfeiffer struck first in the beginning of the game, Brandon Garcia tied the game up 1-1 with an RBI single in the 3rd.
However, the Falcons got to the starter, Josh Gjormand, for two more runs in the next half inning.
Avery Neaves ignited the Lynchburg bats in the 5th with a base knock to score Garcia. The Hornets scored again on a double-steal with Neaves nabbing his 17th bag and Cameron Lane taking home for his fifth steal.
Neaves later came around to score on a Sean Pokarak groundout.
The Hornets scored eight more times to put away the Falcons. Ryan Long tallied three RBI on two singles and led the team in that category. Neaves collected his second RBI of the day on a sacrifice fly.
Five Hornets came on in relief. Travis Shumate was the pitcher of record when the Hornets took the lead for good in the 6th on a Carrson Atkins sacrifice fly and earned his second win.
Jack Bachmore pitched the final three innings and shut out the Falcons with one hit and seven strikeouts. He grabbed his seventh save of the year. It marked the third time he has recorded a save after pitching three or more innings.
