Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg baseball team defeated Greensboro 6-3 Wednesday afternoon.
Eric Hiett had a multihit game, Benton Jones drove in the go-ahead runs, and Jack Bachmore recorded his sixth win of the season.
In his fifth start of the season, Gjormand navigated the first three innings without allowing a run. He conceded two in the 4th, but also struck out career-high six batters.
The Hornets tied the game up in the bottom of the frame with an Eric Hiett double and a Logan Webster triple.
Bradnon Garcia, nursing an 18-game hitting streak, gave the Hornets the lead in the next inning with a single.
Just like the 4th inning, after Greensboro took a lead in the 7th, the Hornets immediatley took it back in their next trip to the plate. This time, the Hornets took the lead then added some insurance runs. Jones doubled home Garcia and Cameron Lane, then Hiett tallied his second hit and RBI of the day with a single scoring Jones.
Bachmore took over on the mound in the 7th, and as he has done 13 other times this season, the senior closed out the game over multiple innings without allowing a run. He secured his sixth win of the year and lowered his ERA to 1.05. Coming into the day, Bachmore owned the sixth-lowest ERA in Division III.
Lynchburg (31-5, 17-3 ODAC) closes out its conference schedule with a Senior Day double-header against Guilford on Saturday, April 29.
