Ashland, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg baseball team dropped its second conference game of the season Wednesday afternoon.

The No. 8 Hornets fell 6-2 to the No. 12 Yellow Jackets marking their largest deficit in a loss this year.  

Randolph-Macon scored three runs in the 3rd inning facing pitcher Brandon Pond. Pond was relieved by Jack Bachmore in the inning finishing his line with one earned run and one strikeout. 

Cameron Lane hit his first homer of the season with an opposite-field blast in the 5th. Benton Jones also recorded an RBI in 5th with a sac fly tdriving in Avery Neaves.

The Yellow Jackets tallied an insurance run in the 6th and two more in the 8th off of a two-run homer bringing the game to its 6-2 final. Pond received his first loss since May 15, 2021.

Lynchburg (20-4, 9-2 ODAC) will continue conference play hosting Ferrum Saturday, April 8 for a double-header starting at noon.
