Box Score Lynchbrug, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg baseball team fell in the Game 1 of its first round Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament game Saturday.
The fourth-ranked and top-seeded Hornets dropped a 7-6 decision to eighth-seeded Bridgewater.
Avery Neaves started the game off with a massive two-run shot to the treetops in left field. However, the Eagles took the lead with a three-run 2nd inning. Two of the runs on Potts' ledger that frame were unearned.
Potts fanned four batters over 6.2 innings of work and allowed five runs, three of which were unearned.
He exited with a tie score after Brandon Garcia and Jackson Harding drove in runs during the 2nd and 3rd.
Bridgewater got to Jack Bachmore for three runs in the later innings.
Benton Jones ripped an RBI double in the bottom of the 8th, but Lynchburg stranded the game-tying run on second base in the 9th.
The Hornets (33-6) face elimination against Bridgewater in Game 2 of the series beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 7.
