Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg baseball team took down Bridgewater in a must-win contest Sunday afternoon. 

Powered by two home runs from Benton Jones and another shot from Gavin Collins, Lynchburg took down the Eagles 11-1. The Hornets and Eagles play the decisive third game of the series Monday at noon. 

Brandon Pond no-hit Bridgewater through the first three frames. Jones hit his first of two homers in the 4th, but Bridgewater got the run right back in the 5th. 

The Hornets blew the game open in the 8th. It started with Collins' third dinger of the season and was punctuated by a three-run blast off the scoreboard in right field from Jones. 

Jones, in his freshman season, leads the team with eight home runs. 

Lynchburg poured it on in the top of the 9th. Jones tallied his third hit of the day along with his fifth and sixth RBI during the four-run inning.

Jack Bachmore entered in the 7th to defend the one-run lead at the time and did not allow a run on his way to his ninth save of the season. He leads the league in saves and with a 1.38 ERA.

Lynchburg (34-6) takes on Bridgewater in the win-or-go-home rubber game on Monday, May 8 at noon.
