Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg baseball team took down Bridgewater in Game 3 of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference first round Monday.
After their second-straight 11-1 victory over the Eagles with their backs against the walls, the Hornets advanced to the four-team championship weekend of the tournament beginning Thursday. The Hornets will take on fourth-seeded and No. 16 Randolph-Macon at 11 a.m. at Pitt Stadium on the campus of University of Richmond.
Brandon Garcia extended his hitting streak to 22 games with three base knocks. He led the way offensively with three RBI. Benton Jones and Holden Fieldler both had two-RBI games.
On their way to hanging 11 runs on the Eagles, Lynchburg jumped out to a six-run lead with a five-run 2nd inning. Avery Neaves recorded his 43rd RBI in the inning and Eric Hiett drove Garcia in with a sacrifice fly.
On the mound, Wesley Arrington earned the win with five strikeouts over 6.1 innings of one-run ball. He is tied with Jack Bachmore for second in the team-lead for wins.
