Women's basketball falls on the road

Winchester, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's basketball team fell to Shenandoah 69-59 on Saturday evening. 

Macey Mullins and Sayre Brandstatter both scored 11 points as the Hornets held a halftime lead over Shenandoah on the road. 

After a tightly contested first quarter, Lynchburg burst out to a 14-point lead thanks to a lopsided second frame. Olivia Harris scored all eight of her points in the final quarter before halftime with a pair of 3s and a jumper. The Hornets were up by 19 with 1:35 before halftime after posting a 22-6 run to start the second. 

Lynchburg only made five field goals in the second half as Shenandoah battled back. Shenandoah had an 11-0 run to start the second half, took its first lead by the 4:22 mark in the third, and closed the game with an 8-0 run.

Lynchburg (10-8, 5-6 ODAC) is in Virginia Beach, Va. for a matchup with the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m.
