Lynchburg, Va.-- The University of Lynchburg men's basketball team fell to Guilford 73-60Â Wednesday evening.
Jayson Easton recorded a season-high 19 points off 7-13 (53%) shooting from the field and 5-7 (71%) from behind the arc. Miles Taylor added 12. Jake Hart contributed eight points, nailing two 3-pointers in the first half.
Lynchburg started the game on a 22-4 run. Easton knocked down two consecutive 3-pointers to give the Hornets their biggest lead of the game with 9:37 remaining in the first half. After the Guilford timeout, Guilford went on a 19-0 scoring run to take the lead with 4:45 remaining in the half. Baskets from Taylor, Landon Sutton and Cameron O'Conner late in the half kept Lynchburg within striking distance. The Hornets and the Quakers had five lead changes in the final 4:45 of the first half. Lynchburg entered halftime trailing 31-32.
After trailing by as many as six points, an amazing effort from Elijah Davis on both ends of the floor and an Easton 3-pointer with 9:44 remaining in the second half gave Lynchburg their only lead of the half. Unfortunately, Guilford went on a 21-9 run in the final 7:11 of the game to secure the win. This marks Lynchburg's fourth straight loss.
Lynchburg (10-11, 5-7 ODAC) will travel to face Roanoke on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m.
