Salem, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's basketball team fell to Roanoke 78-54 Saturday afternoon.
Deondre Ross was Lynchburg's leading scorer tallying 10 points. Kavon James added nine points in his first start of the season.
Both teams were scoreless for the first 3:12 of the competition. Roanoke's first basket sparked an 8-0 run for the Maroons. A jumper from Miles Taylor with 15:14 remaining in the first half gave the Hornets their first points of the game.
The second half began with a 9-0 Roanoke run. Despite shooting an improved 11-26 (42%) from the field and 8-8 (100%) from the charity stripe, Lynchburg could not answer Roanoke's efficient second half, where the Maroons shot 16-30 (53%) from the field and 6-12 (50%) from deep.
Lynchburg (10-12, 5-8 ODAC) will travel across the Hill City to face Randolph on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m.
