Lynchburg Va. -- In their second ODAC matchup of the season, the #13 University of Lynchburg field hockey team faces the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets on Saturday, October 12, at noon.
Since 1981 the Hornets (7-2, 1-0) and the Yellow Jackets have faced off 41 times. The Hornets lead the series 36-5. The Hornets have taken the last 9 games against Randolph-Macon, in their last meeting winning 2-1.
The Hornets enter this game with a 4 game win streak after a 4-3 win against Rowan last Saturday. Freshman Anna Dorrestijn came out strong and accounted for two of the Hornet's goals against Rowan. Randolph-Macon fell to the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins 3-1 their last time out, making their conference record 1-1.
Following Saturday's contest, the Hornets return to the field for their second outing in as many days to conclude their nonconference schedule. Lynchburg will take on the Centre College Colonels at noon on Sunday, October 13. The field hockey squad has won each of its last four affairs against Centre, most recently on Sept. 24, 2023, when the Hornets claimed a 5-0 victory. The Colonels come into Sunday's game on a three-game losing streak and a 4-7 overall record.
