No. 13 Field Hockey Welcomes Sweet Briar

Lynchburg, Va. -- The No. 13 Lynchburg Hornets (11-2) are set to host the Sweet Briar Vixens (5-8) this Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 4:30 p.m. on Shellenberger Field.

The Hornets have dominated the series history recently, winning the past 27 meetings between the two longest-tenured ODAC programs.

Lynchburg enters this contest off a seven-game win streak, outscoring their opponents 23-7 over that stretch. The Hornets represented both ODAC players of the week; Madison Mark earned offensive honors with two goals and one assist in the past two games, and Samira Gharavi claimed defensive player of the week honors for her shutout and three saves.

Sweet Briar comes to the Hill City with losses in their last two affairs. The Vixens currently sit in second to last in the conference standings with a 1-4 record against ODAC opponents. Nonetheless, the Hornets will need to hone in on Gigi Hutman, who leads the Vixens offense with seven goals this season, T6th in the ODAC.

Lynchburg looks to remain unbeaten on Shellenberger, currently 7-0, with just two remaining regular season home contests.
