Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg Hornets are headed back to the ODAC championship after taking down Bridgewater in the semifinal, 3-0.
Grace Peterson got things rolling for Lynchburg in the first quarter. After claiming possession off of a tackle deep in the Eagle's territory,
Maddie Schuchter headed straight for the semi-circle and sent a bullet to Peterson for a 1-0 lead.
Both teams headed to the locker room at halftime with just one shot through the first 30 minutes. However, in the second half, the Hornet offense began to ramp up.
Olivia Muir continued the efficient shooting on the day, scoring the second goal of the afternoon on the second Lynchburg shot. This was Muir's first career goal.
With constant control of possession throughout the contest, Lynchburg dominated the penalty corner column and proved to bode well for their offense. The third and final goal of the afternoon came from
Jill Pleiter off an assist from
Aurora Balsamo on the Hornet's tenth penalty corner.
The Hornets now with a spot in the championship game, will await the result of #3 Washington & Lee and #1 Shenandoah tonight.
