Long Valley, N.J. -- The University of Lynchburg equestrian team earned their fourth NCEA meet of the season and second this year against Centenary on Friday afternoon.
The meet score was tied at 5-5 at the conclusion of the meet, but the Hornets (4-2) had scored five higher than the Cyclones to ultimately claim the victory in a close decision. Senior
Fallyn Belcastro, the reigning ODAC Fences Rider of the Week, had the highest score of the meet in fences with 86 riding George.Â
Lynchburg trailed after fences, 3-2, as Belcastro and senior
Lucy Metzler earned the two team points in the event. The Hornets accrued a total of 405 score throughout the event, one shy of Centenary, who scored 406.
Heading into the flat, Lynchburg claimed the first two team points as junior

Emma Schweizer each tallied points for the Hornets. Caroline Mancini and Sophie Kassel claimed the next two team points, but Metzler closed out with a team point to knot the score at 5-5. Although Lynchburg trailed after fences, they beat out the Cyclones in flat by a slim margin of six on the score, allowing them to claim the triumph.Â
The NCEA squad has wrapped up its fall portion of the schedule and will continue to compete after the start of the new year. The next slate of meet will be announced at a later date.
