Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's basketball team is set for a trip to Nashville, Tenn. for the Music City Classic to face the likes of Franklin & Marshall and Webster. Lynchburg will square off against F&M on Thursday, December 19 at 6 p.m. followed by Webster on Friday, December 20 at 6 p.m.
The Hornets (4-4, 2-1) come into the tournament having won each of their last three competitions that counted to the season overall. Lynchburg matched up against Emory & Henry most recently in an exhibition game and fell to the DII team, 74-52. Prior to that, the Hornets took down two ODAC opponents in Hollins and Eastern Mennonite, as well as NC Wesleyan.Â

Kate Littlejohn leads the way offensively with an average of 11.6 points per game. Senior guard
Olivia Harris and junior forward
Bree Spainhour also average double figure scoring for the Hornets, Harris with 10.8 ppg. and Spainhour with 10.4 ppg. Spainhour also tops the squad in rebound average and assists with 7.2 boards per game and 22 dimes.Â
The last time that Lynchburg hit the hardwood against Franklin & Marshall was on Dec. 31, 2027, where the Hornets came out on top, 72-52. Through nine games, the Diplomats are led by senior forward Kennedy Wilburn, who averages a double-double with 13.6 points per outing and 10.4 boards per affair. Junior guard Lizzie Neville (11.2 ppg.) is atop the team in assists and steals with 26 and 23, respectively. Her backcourt partner, senior Ally Trebelev, rounds out Diplomat performers averaging double-figure scoring with 10.6 points per game.
Lynchburg will square up against Webster for the first time in program history. The Gorloks arrive to Nashville with an unblemished 7-0 record so far this season. Forwards Emily Wilson (21.0 ppg.) and Bethany Lancaster (19.0 ppg.) combine for an average of 40.0 points per game this season of the team's average of 78.7 points per contest. After winning 27 consecutive games in the 2023-24 season and the SILAC championship title, Webster lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament to Wisconsin-Oshkosh.Â
Following this tournament, the Hornets will not return to action until the flip of the calendar year. Next up on the slate will be a home competition against Apprentice on Sunday, January 5 at 2 p.m.
