Roanoke, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's basketball team closed out its contest against Hollins on a 14-2 run and secured a 61-54 victory on Wednesday night.
The Hornets (3-4, 1-1) trailed by five with 6:22 left in the final period. A three-point play from junior wing
Kacey Kelly sparked the run that was the deciding factor of the competition. Sophomore guard
Kate Littlejohn followed with a three-point play of her own to put Lynchburg in front, 53-52, with 3:58 to go.

Olivia Harris each converted buckets to give Lynchburg a five-point edge with 1:11 on the clock. After a jumper from Hollins' Sarah Morales, the Hornets did not allow a basket for the remainder of the contest. Kelly and Littlejohn each sank two shots from the line to end the outing in the win column.
Harris paced Lynchburg offensively with 17 points. The senior added eight boards, five assists and three steals to her impactful performance. Littlejohn and Kelly scored 14 and 11 points, respectively, and rounded out the Hornet performers who scored in double-figures. Junior forward
Bree Spainhour grabbed a team-best 12 board while tallying eight points, three assists, two steals and one block.
Hollins' Morales scored a game-high 21 points and did not leave the court, adding six rebounds, five assists and one steal to her stat line. Cabria Mutz accrued 14 rebounds, 12 points, six blocks and one steal.
With tonight's victory, the Hornets extend their win streak against Hollins to 19 consecutive victories. Lynchburg's next outing will be on the home court in Turner Gymnasium against ODAC foe Eastern Mennonite of Saturday, December 7 at 2 p.m.
