Blacksburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg equestrian team placed fifth at the Virginia Tech IHSA show on Saturday.
Margaret Stell and Alexandra Miller led the way with wins in open fences and novice flat, respectively.
Lynchburg's second-place finishers were Zoey Horn in limit fences and intermediate flat, Iris Moseley in limit flat, and Reese Albany in novice flat. Elle Nutting had the last top-3 finish for the Hornets placing third in intermediate fences.
Stell also placed fifth in open flat, Kadin Bankel came in fifth in limit fences as did Carlie Madonna, Hannah Hillyer finished fifth in intermediate flat, and Mia Posa placed fifth in limit flat.
The Hornets earned 27 points on their way to their fifth-place team finish in the nine-team show. Lynchburg beat out James Madison, Bridgewater, Roanoke, and Ferrum in the standings. Washington and Lee won the show with 41 points.
The Lynchburg IHSA squad is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 24 right at home in Rustburg for the Lynchburg IHSA show.
