Rustburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg equestrian team placed fifth out of nine teams at the Lynchburg IHSA show on Saturday. The Hornets earned 26 points with first-place Hollins scoring 38.
Elle Nutting claimed a blue ribbon for the Hornets in intermediate fences. Margaret Stell and Zoey Horn were Lynchburg's second-place riders in open fences and intermediate fences, respectively.
Horn also placed third Intermediate flat. Lynchburg's other third-place winners were Kadin Bankel in limit fences, and Iris Moseley in limit flat.
Hannah Hillyer came in fourth in open flat, Jenna Frazer placed fifth in limit fences along with Bankel, Reese Albany and Alexandra Miller both came in fifth in novice flat, and Stell rounded out the awards with a sixth-place finish in open flat.
The Hornets will compete at their next IHSA show on Saturday, March 16 in Roanoke, Va. at Hollins. The NCEA squad will ride against Berry at home on Friday, March 1 at 2 p.m.
