Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg baseball team fell to Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday.
After going up 3-0 in the bottom of the first, the Marlins erased the deficit and flipped the game upside down with a nine-run sixth inning.
Lynchburg's starter, Colin McGuire, left the game after working quickly through the first. He did exit with a three-run lead thanks to six hits from the Hornets. Quinn Madden drove in the third run of the inning and went on to hit two triples in the game.
Nathaniel Mack pitched four innings and only allowed one run on two hits. Mack exited before Virginia Wesleyan hung nine on the Hornets in the sixth with seven hits, and despite a seventh-inning homer from Joe Munitz, the Hornets were never able to claw their way back into the game.
Lynchburg (18-10, 8-6 ODAC) is the No. 21 team in Division III and takes on No. 15 Christopher Newport on Wednesday, April 10.
