Audra Petty partnered for 37 total points en rout to a 65-56 victory for the University of Lynchburg women's basketball team against Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon.
The Hornets (6-6, 3-2) saw Spainhour score a season-high 19 points to pace the offense, with Petty trailing close behind with 18 points. Sophomore guard

Olivia Harris each tallied 10 points to round out double-digit performers for Lynchburg. As a group, the Hornets made 14-of-22 shots from the foul line and bagged 40 of their 65 team points from the paint.
Neither side led by more than four points throughout the entire first half. There were 13 occasions of the lead changing in the first 20 minutes of action. The score was knotted at 46 apiece 6:45 left in the game. Spainhour made a bucket in the paint that sparked a 7-2 rally for the Hornets to claim a 53-48 lead with 5:18 remaining in the outing. Lynchburg held onto the lead for the rest of the contest.
The women's basketball team is set to return home for its first competition in Turner Gym in over a month to square up against Randolph-Macon on Wednesday, January 15 at 5 p.m.
