Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's basketball team was defeated by Randolph-Macon, 60-46, on Wednesday night in Turner Gymnasium.Â
The Hornets (6-7, 3-3) had junior forward
Bree Spainhour and senior guard
Olivia Harris combine for 30 points in the loss, Spainhour with 16 points and Harris with 14. Junior guard
Brooke Cason grabbed six rebounds and dished out four assists, both the highest marks on the team.Â
The contest started off with a 3-pointer from Marisa Ziegler, followed by a layup from Catherine Kagey, which gave the Yellow Jackets a five-point lead just 2:08 into the outing. Randolph-Macon held onto the advantage throughout the entirety of the contest, extending its edge to as many as 12 points in the first half at the 2:44-mark in the second quarter and 16 points in the final period with three minutes to go.
The Yellow Jackets were led offensively by Kagey, who produced a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Kagey also totaled three blocks and thee steals in the affair. Ziegler tallied 14 points in part due to hitting four-of-seven from beyond the arc.Â
Lynchburg will look to bounce back this weekend against Shenandoah on Saturday, January 18 at 2 p.m.
