Ferrum, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's basketball teams dropped its matchup against Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Ferrum, 61-42, on Wednesday night in Swartz Gymnasium.

The Hornets (5-6, 2-2) competed in their first game in over two weeks and fell short to a strong Panther squad. Sophomore guard Kate Littlejohn led the way for Lynchburg with 10 points, six rebounds and one steal. Junior forward Bree Spainhour (nine points) and freshman guard Audra Petty (seven points) each contributed five boards, one assist and one steal. Senior guard Olivia Harris tallied six points, four assists, four rebounds and two steals.

After Spainhour hit two from the foul line in the first quarter to tie the score at 2-2, Ferrum held Lynchburg scoreless for the remainder of the period and owned a 9-2 advantage heading into the second quarter. Once the Panthers claimed the lead, they held onto it for the rest of the contest.

Ferrum increased its lead to double-figures and ended the first half ahead, 29-17. Harris cashed a 3-pointer out of the break, but the Panthers strung together a succeeding 8-2 run that gave them a double-digit edge which they kept for the remainder of the affair. Although the Hornets cut their deficit to 10 points with 4:06 left in the game, Ferrum ended the outing on an 11-2 run to close out the competition.

Aisha Martin and Maslyn Mosbacher each totaled 14 points for the Panthers en rout to their win. Ferrum outrebounded Lynchburg by a margin of 43-36 and force 19 Hornet turnovers.
