Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's volleyball team welcomes the Guilford Quakers for a mid-week ODAC matchup in Turner Gymnasium, Wednesday, Oct. 8.
This contest will be a rematch of the 2024 ODAC quarterfinal, as Lynchburg hosted their first conference playoff game since 2017. The Hornets defeated Guilford last season to continue their control over the Quakers in recent history, winning 30 of the 33 matches since 1999. Guilford's last win over the Lynchburg was in 2019.
The Lynchburg Hornets (16-2) enter this affair with in a win in their most recent match, a 3-1 victory over Shenandoah on senior day, after having an eight game win streak snapped in their prior contest to Virginia Wesleyan.
Cardoza and company continue to make their mark on the national landscape, receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll for the fourth consecutive week. Offensively, the Hornets have thrived behind their pinhitters:
Kate Hardie,
Tori Williamson and
Jacqueline Bryant. All three rank in the top-25 in the ODAC for kills/set and have helped the Hornets rank in the top-50 nationally as a team.
The Guilford Quakers (8-6) come into this contest with a signature conference win in their last match against Bridgewater, 3-1 on the road.
Senior middle blocker Madison Duval has been a dominant interior force this season for the Quakers, recording a staggering 0.87 blocks/set. Duval has nine matches this season with three or more total blocks. Meanwhile, Natalie Moore sits in the top-5 in the ODAC for total points with 213.5 behind 0.60 aces/set and 3.05 kills/set.
Following this matchup, Lynchburg will conclude their three game home stand against Averett (3-13) next Wednesday, Oct. 15.
