Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's volleyball team and head coach
Kevin Cardoza are excited to reveal the schedule of matches for the 2026 season.
To kick off the new season, the Hornets will host Tusculum for a scrimmage on August 23 at 2 p.m. Lynchburg begins regular season competition on the road at Southern Virginia on September 1 at 6 p.m.
The Hornets will then travel to Sewanee, Tenn. for three matches, first against North Park on September 4 at 2 p.m., then against host Sewanee at 6 p.m. later that day. Lynchburg concludes the trip against Transylvania on September 5 at noon.
Lynchburg's home slate begins with four matches over two days. The Hornets will face Mary Baldwin on September 11 at 11 a.m. and Geneva at 5 p.m. Lynchburg returns to action the following day against Piedmont at noon and Warren Wilson at 4 p.m.
The women's volleyball team travels to Washington and Lee on September 16 at 7 p.m. to kick off ODAC play before returning home to face Catholic on September 19 at noon. After an away outing at Averett on September 23 at 6 p.m., the Hornets will welcome Roanoke on September 25 at 6 p.m. and host Hollins for Senior Day on September 26 at 11 a.m. Lynchburg will square off against Virginia Wesleyan on September 30 at 6:30 p.m.
Lynchburg opens October with two matches in Dallas, Pa., facing Misericordia on October 3 at 11 a.m. and Cortland at 2 p.m. The Hornets travel to Guilford on October 7 at 7 p.m. before a pair of matches in Huntingdon, Pa. against Scranton on October 10 at 2:30 p.m. and Juniata at 5 p.m.
The Hornets return home to host Randolph on October 16 at 5 p.m. and Randolph-Macon on October 21 at 7 p.m. Lynchburg then hits the road to face Shenandoah on October 23 at 7 p.m. and Eastern Mennonite on October 24 at noon. After hosting Sweet Briar on October 28 at 6 p.m., the women's volleyball crew travels to St. Davids, Pa. for matches against Eastern and DeSales on October 31.
To close out the regular season, Lynchburg will travel to Bridgewater on November 4 at 7 p.m. and Marymount on November 7 at 2 p.m.
The ODAC postseason begins with the quarterfinal round on November 10 and concludes with the championship match on November 14. All ODAC playoff competitions will take place at the high seed's home site. The NCAA postseason is set to begin with regional competition on November 19. The NCAA Elite Eight and Final Four are scheduled for December 2 and 3, respectively, before the NCAA Championship on December 5 at UPMC Cooper Field House in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Last season, the Hornets had one of the most successful campaigns in program history. With an overall record of 26-5, tied for the most wins in a single season in school history, Lynchburg advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time ever. Coach Cardoza was named the AVCA Region VI Coach of the Year and
Kate Hardie was selected as an All-Region honorable mention. Five student-athletes were honored on All-ODAC teams.
