Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg men's basketball team picked up a conference win on the road, taking down Bridgewater 67-66.
Michael Gray led the team in scoring, finishing with 16 points.
Jonathan Foust also cracked double figures, contributing 13 points.
Jamarcus Brown recorded a season-high 11 rebounds to accompany his two blocks.
Jake Hart dished out 10 assists and collected four steals.Â
The two squads traded runs in the opening half. After Lynchburg took a six-point lead in the beginning stages of the first half, the Eagles had a five-point lead at the break.Â
Foust and the Hornets reclaimed the lead five minutes into the break, and the teams continued to trade baskets from that point on. In a matchup with nine ties and 14 lead changes, neither team was able to create separation as they approached the final stages of the contest.Â
Tied at 66 with 23 seconds reaming, Brown sunk a crucial free throw to give the Hornets a one-point advantage. The Eagles chose to hold the ball for one final shot to try and win the game. With one second on the clock, Khalil Ward hoisted a three that would not go, and Lynchburg claimed a victory.
Lynchburg contained Bridgewater's tandem of Aaron Oates and Jordan Cooper to just 17 combined points. The Hornets also won the turnover battle 17-12, aided by 12 team steals from Lynchburg.Â
