Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse team rolled to a 22-8 victory over Guilford for the squad's fourth straight triumph on Wednesday afternoon at Appenzeller Field.

Grant Voigt with three goals. The other three athletes had two goals and one assist apiece: sophomore midfielder
Liam Holman, freshman attack
Will Rubley, and senior attackman
Charlie Evans.
The Quakers struck first at the 10:44-mark as Davis Palombo got Guilford on the board first. Lynchburg followed up with consecutive goals from junior attack
Riley Hastings and senior attackman
Carter Besz. The Quakers had the last goal of the opening period and the sides were deadlocked at 2-2 after 15 minutes.Â
The Hornets came alive in the second quarter, scoring nine straight goals from the 14:52-mark until 5:16 left before halftime. During that stretch, Voigt and junior attackman
Spencer Vandenberg contributed two goals each to lead the way. Guilford halted the run with back-to-back goals from Gavin Brown. Holman netted one with 20 seconds left before the end of the half and the squads went into the intermission with a 12-4 Lynchburg advantage.
Out of the break, the Hornets continued to rattle off goals, extending their scoring streak to eight in the third quarter. Seven different players scored during the rally with Evans scoring consecutive goals in a 39-second span.
Although Guilford opened scoring in the final 15-minute period with three straight goals, Lynchburg answered right back with three of its own. The Quakers' Aimery Workman tallied one more before the end of the contest, resulting in a 22-8 finish.
The Hornets continued their recent success on clears with a nearly perfect 23-of-24 clear attempts in the outing. Junior faceoff specialist
Riley Frankel was a key piece at the X, winning 14-of-17 draw attempts. As a team, Lynchburg won 27-of-34 faceoffs. Junior
Luke Meadows led the Hornets' defensive efforts with four caused turnovers and four ground balls.
Coming up for the men's lacrosse team is the crew's Alumni Weekend, where the Hornets will host Roanoke on Saturday, April 5 at 7 p.m.
