Hampden-Sydney, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's tennis team fell to Hampden-Sydney 0-7 Saturday afternoon.
The Hornets dropped two of three doubles matches. Freshman Luca Morbioli and junior Jorge Patricio Zepeda dropped their match at the top doubles seed 4-6. Junior Alex Rintoul and sophomore Sebastian Soria fell at No. 2 doubles 5-7. Freshman Timothee Depaquit and junior Sebastian Sierra won the sole doubles match for the Hornets with a 6-3 win on the bottom court.
In singles play, Morbioli fell at the top flight 6-7 (5-7 tiebreak), 5-7. Soria fell 0-6, 1-6 on court two. Sierra and Rintoul played at the third and fourth flights, respectively, and dropped their matches 2-6, 1-6. Depaquit took his match on the penultimate court to three sets, but fell 6-4, 3-6, 9-11. Freshman Oliver Lizano fell 3-6, 1-6 on the bottom court.
Lynchburg finishes the season with an 8-6 overall record, and a 3-6 conference record. With a tiebreaker over Roanoke, Lynchburg earned the eighth seed in the ODAC tournament, and will play top seeded Washington and Lee on April 30.
