Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse team is set for its final home contest of the regular season when Randolph visits Shellenberger Field on Tuesday, April 22 at 7 p.m.
The No. 15/12 Hornets (10-5, 7-1) ride a three-game win streak into tomorrow's affair. Each of Lynchburg last three games have been won by double-digit margins, most recently with a 19-6 finish at Bridgewater this past Saturday. Junior attackman
Riley Hastings led the team with four points on three assists and one goal against the Eagles, while five Hornet performers tallied two goals in the win.
Hastings now has 84 assists across his three years at Lynchburg, which is eighth-best in program history. He and the offensive unit have been the seventh-best scoring offense in the country this season and second-best in the ODAC, averaging 17.27 goals per game. The Hornets also have the 12th-best scoring margin this season, outscoring opponents by an average of 7.53 goals per affair this season. Fifth year middie
Jake Rust has averaged the second-most goals per game in the conference this season with an average of 2.73 per outing.
Since 2009, Lynchburg has claimed victory in all 15 meetings with the WildCats. Last time out against Randolph, the Hornets stamped a 23-0 triumph on the road on April 10, 2024. Across the last five occasions these two sides squared off, Lynchburg has allowed just two goals and held Randolph scoreless in three of the five contests.
Randolph heads into tomorrow's competition with a 1-14 overall record and 0-8 record in conference play. Senior middie Leyton Brightly leads the way offensively with 44 points on 28 goals and 16 assists. Senior attackman Michael Baldwin is also a significant contributor with 38 points on a team-leading 33 goals and five assists.Â
Tomorrow's game is One Love and Faculty Appreciation night. Staff and faculty are encouraged to come to the contest to be honored and cheer on the Hornets! After tomorrow, Lynchburg will close out the regular season at Randolph-Macon on Friday, April 25 at 3 p.m.
