Lynchburg, Va. – The Lynchburg baseball team is set to host Hampden-Sydney College for a Code Red matchup this Wednesday, April 9, at 3 p.m.
Lynchburg has won seven of their last ten against the Tigers. Earlier this season, these two squads squared off, Hampden-Sydney got the better of the Hornets in a 3-1 victory.
The Tigers (13-15) are coming off of a series split against Eastern Mennonite this past weekend. So far this season, Hampden Sydney has taken down three top-25 opponents in NC Wesleyan, Rowan, as well as Lynchburg.
Senior infielder Grayson Harris leads the Tigers in hits with 46, good for second best in the ODAC and T16th in the nation. Despite five players batting over .300, Hampden-Sydney ranked ninth in the conference in batting average (.291).
On the mound, the Tigers sport the fifth best ERA in ODAC (5.51), but have allowed more hits than any other team.
The Hornets (24-4) are coming off of a weekend series sweep against the Ferrum Panthers to help extend their win streak to five games.
The top of the Hornets lineup has been bolstered by a 13 game hit streak by Brandon Garcia and Benton Jones reaches base a consecutive 31 games, dating back to last season.
This is one of the two midweek matchups for the Hornets, challenging Christopher Newport University on Thursday, April 10, on the road.
