Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg Hornets dropped their second game of the season in a defensive battle against No. 13 Ursinus, 1-0.
In the opening 90 second of the affair, Ursinus took control. After a shot was saved off a shot from the first penalty corner of the day, Gigi whwhw collected the rebound and scored the first, and ultimately last, goal of the day.
Throughout the contest, Lynchburg continued to apply heavy pressure on both ends. The Hornets constantly disrupted the Bears offensive with a full-field press that led to a heap of turnovers and kept the ball in Lynchburg's offensive zone.
As a result of their defensive intensity, Lynchburg fired off 21 total shots, 11 of which were on goal. Nevertheless, a monster performance from the Bear's keeper, Adriana Palladinetti, helped Ursinus hold the advantage.
Despite outshouting Ursinus 21-6 and winning the penalty corners 13-4, Lynchburg failed to convert an opportunity, leading to their second lost of the year.
