No. 21 Lynchburg Welcomes No. 11 York and Sewanee for Weekend Slate

Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg field hockey team welcomes two opponents this weekend, challenging No. 11 York on Saturday, Sept. 27 and Sewanee on Sunday, Sept. 28.

The Hornets (4-2) come into this contest with a win in their most recent matchup against Susquehanna, 8-1. Lynchbrug has split their last four game overall, with two ranked losses away from home.

Junior forward Anna Dorrestijn leads the team in scoring thus far with six goals, tied for first in the ODAC, coming off a blistering four goal outing against the River Hawks which earned her the ODAC offensive player of the week. Senior Danielle Coon sits at second for team points with three goals and four assists through the first half dozen games. 

York (5-2) enter this weekend following a 3-0 win over St. Mary's (Md.).  The Spartans have faced two ranked opponents this season, both of which have gone in double overtime, defeating No. 22 Swathmore 3-2 and falling to No. 3 Johns Hopkins 0-1. 

Kelbie Linebaugh has notched a team-leading five goal this season, with two multi-goal performances. The sophomore forward was recently awarded the  MAC Commonwealth Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a pair against St. Mary's (Md.)

Sweanee (3-4) will take on Roanoke in Salem, Va. prior to coming to the Hill City. The Tigers have won three of their last four affairs, with an emphatic 7-0 victory over Wittenberg. 

Through their first seven games, the Tigers have averaged 1.86 goals per contest while their opponents have scored 2.71. Catherine Crane has been the primary goal scorer for the squad, notching a team-leading four goals this season.

Following their two contests this weekend, Lynchburg begins their longest road stand of the season across four games, beginning with a pair of matchups in Galloway, N.J. against Stockton and No. 18 Rowan on Oct. 4 and 5.
