Forest, Va. — Ty Blair secured his first Old Dominion Athletic Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week honor following his 24:37.5 8k performance for 17th place at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday, announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Blair's performance marked the top time for the Hornets' men's cross country team this season, good for the second-fastest time in the South Region. With Saturday's mark, Blair removed 61 seconds from his previous season best, which took place at the Running of the Cows in Northfield, Minn.
The Purcellville native has now posted three top-20 marks throughout the 2026 campaign, including a first-place finish at the NCAA South Region Preview in Charlottesville, Va. Blair has led the Hornets in each of the team's three 8k races.
Lynchburg claimed a ninth-place finish and toppled three ranked opponents in Connecticut. The team entered its final regular-season weekend ranked 26th in the USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll.
Blair and the Hornets will begin their postseason push on Saturday, Oct. 31 as they travel to Winchester, Va. to compete at Kernstown Battlefield for the ODAC Cross Country Championships.
