Dumas Receives First ODAC Weekly Award of the Season

FOREST, Va. -- University of Lynchburg women's lacrosse attack Sydney Dumas has been named the first Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the 2026 season, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Dumas is the first Lynchburg women's lacrosse player to receive an offensive weekly award since 2021.

The Hornets began the year with two victories this past week, defeating Methodist 15-4 on the road and Felician 15-3 in a neutral-site matchup.

In the first contest of the week, Lynchburg's leading goal scorer and points leader from a season ago, Dumas quickly made her mark on the new campaign. The senior attack tallied five goals and one assist against the Monarchs while taking just nine total shots. The Kennebunk, Maine native helped the Hornets seal the win during the third quarter, scoring two of her goals and recording her lone assist in the penultimate frame.

Against the Falcons, Dumas matched her goal total from the season opener with five tallies on seven total shots, all of which were on target. In that contest, it was a first-half barrage from Dumas, as she netted four goals before the intermission.

Dumas and the Hornets continue action this week, beginning with their home opener against St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
