Dumas Tabs Five Goals for Second Straight Game in 15-3 Lynchburg Win

SPARKS, Md. --- The University of Lynchburg women's lacrosse team notched its second win of the season with a 15-3 road victory over Felician on Saturday afternoon.

Sydney Dumas led the Hornets with five goals on seven shots, bringing her season point total to 11 through two games. Hayli Williams and Neely Morris each scored twice and added an assist, while Isabella Vogel and Elizabeth Poitras also recorded two goals apiece. Lynchburg finished with eight assists on its 15 goals and placed 22 of 30 shots on target.

Lynchburg wasted little time setting the tone. Dumas opened the scoring at the 12:30 mark of the first quarter off an assist from Mya Hausauer, and Vogel followed with a free-position goal to make it 2-0. Dumas struck again later in the period to give the Hornets a 3-0 advantage after one.

The Hornets broke the game open in the second quarter. Morris, Dumas and Vogel each found the back of the net during an eight-goal frame that pushed the lead to 11-2 at halftime. Williams and Emmy Clay added goals during the surge, while Lynchburg's defense forced 12 turnovers and limited Felician to just one first-half goal.

Felician opened the fourth-quarter scoring, but Lynchburg answered with three of the game's final four goals. Kayla Fox scored early in the fourth, and Williams and Poitras added late tallies to cap the 12-goal victory.

Emma Timberg recorded two assists, and Hausauer finished with a goal and an assist. Lily Messineo and Reilly Dinelli also tallied assists for the Hornets. In goal, Olivia Owings played all 60 minutes and made nine saves while allowing three goals.

Lynchburg controlled possession throughout, winning the ground ball battle 23-15 and holding a 30-14 edge in total shots.

The Hornets return to action Wednesday, Feb. 18, for their home opener against St. Mary's (Md.).
