ARLINGTON, Va. — Lynchburg battled on the road against Marymount (Va.) Friday evening, but ultimatley dropped in straight sets, 25-19, 25-19, 25-17, at the Converse Family Fieldhouse.

The Hornets showed flashes of efficiency early in each set but were unable to string together extended runs as Marymount's balanced attack dictated the flow of the match. Lynchburg finished with 22 kills and 21 digs while working to counter a Saints offense that hit .303 on the night.

Joshua Davis led the Hornets with eight kills, while Bryce Jackson added five and Will Radi chipped in three. Radi also directed the offense with 15 assists, and Brayden Berardo paced the back row with five digs. Mason Kenna and Jourdin Filimaua were active at the net, helping anchor a Lynchburg blocking effort that totaled three stops.

Marymount gained separation late in the first two sets, using timely runs to turn tight frames into multi-point cushions. The Saints then carried that momentum into the third, opening the set with sustained pressure from the service line and building an early advantage they would not relinquish. Marymount finished with 37 kills and seven service aces, consistently forcing Lynchburg out of system and limiting the Hornets' ability to establish an offensive rhythm.

Lynchburg will look to respond with it's conference opener on deck against the Eastern Mennonite Royals on Tuesday, Feb 11, in Harrisonburg.
