Lynchburg, Va. -- Announcement from University of Lynchburg Director of Athletics, Jon Waters:

Over the past year, our roster number of student-athletes for the men's volleyball program have declined to the point where we have been unable to assemble the necessary squad size to move our program in a sustainable direction.

Due to the insufficient participation numbers for the upcoming academic year, the University of Lynchburg has made the difficult decision to discontinue our men's volleyball program as a varsity sport. We understand this news is disappointing for our student-athletes and the volleyball community, and we share in that sentiment.

While the program is currently being removed from our athletic offerings, over the next year, the university will evaluate any potential scenarios and future options that might allow us to resuem sponsorship of the sport in the future.
