Hornets Earn Victories Over Randolph And Regent

Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's volleyball team took a trip down the road to square off against Randolph and Regent and won both matches on Saturday, dropping just one set across the two contests.

Against Randolph, Lynchburg totaled 49 kills on 128 attempts with a .172 hitting percentage and added 38 assists and 45 digs. Joshua Davis led the offense with 14 kills, while Bryce Jackson followed with 12 kills on a .364 hitting percentage and contributed five digs and five total blocks.

Nick Redding added eight kills, and Jourdin Filimaua chipped in six. Jeremiah Costello was efficient with five kills on a .417 percentage. Will Radi directed the offense with 26 assists while also recording nine digs and three service aces. Defensively, Lynchburg produced 10 total blocks and held Randolph to a .136 hitting percentage. After dropping the second set, Lynchburg responded by hitting .455 in the fourth set with 17 kills and just two errors to close out the match.

In the second match, Lynchburg dominated Regent in a 3-0 sweep, hitting .301 as a team with 33 kills and just 11 errors. Mason Kenna and Jeremiah Costello each recorded eight kills, with Costello hitting .313, while Heath Atkins added five kills on a team-best .571 percentage.

Nick Redding contributed three kills on a .600 clip, and Stefan Kapitanov hit .500. The offense was balanced throughout, with 22 assists and contributions from multiple setters. Lynchburg also controlled the match from the service line with seven aces and added eight total blocks while holding Regent to a -.118 hitting percentage.

Across both matches, Lynchburg's efficiency and depth were evident, combining for 82 kills while limiting errors and consistently applying pressure from the service line and at the net.

Next up, the Hornets return to the home court for their Code Red match against Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, March 25 at 6 p.m.
