2024 HS Cami Stovall

Cami Stovall

Cami Stovall joined the University of Lynchburg track and field program as an assistant coach in July 2024 and is heading into her second season as the throws coach. In her first season at Lynchburg Stovall coached sophomore Kenzie Swicegood into a silver medal finish at the ODAC indoor championship in her first year throwing weight throw and a bronze finish in discus at the outdoor championships. Swicegood went on to break the school record in discus and became the first female thrower in school history to throw over 41 meters in both hammer and discus in a season.

Stovall is a USATF Level 3 throws coach. She previously served as the throws coach at Averett University for the 2023-2024, leading the throwers to scoring 22 points at the conference championship and producing ODAC discus champion and all region discus thrower Mark Linton. Prior to collegiate coaching, Stovall coached throws at Yelm High School from 2019-23 in Yelm, Washington. Her throwing squad led the way to a state championship scoring 28 of the team’s total 59 points and producing national champion javelin thrower, Brayden Platt (228-00 feet in javelin and 64-0.25 in shot put for a 4th place finish at Nike Outdoor Nationals). Platt was Stovall’s 5th national champion thrower. Others included Gage Pedro in the hammer and Jeremiah Nubbe with two national championships in discus and one in hammer. In addition to those national champions, Stovall has coached 24 All American finishes between USATF and Nike Outdoor Nationals. Stovall volunteered as a Yelm Tornado Track Club Coach from 2017-2023 where she helped numerous athletes in the USATF Junior Olympic program. The club has had many athletes qualify for nationals, and in 2022 alone the club produced three national championship titles and eight All-American finishes.

Aside from coaching, Stovall has also continued to compete as a USATF Masters competitor. She has been a PNW regional champion in discus and hammer. In 2018, she competed at the USATF Throws National Championships, where she won three silver medals in the throws pentathlon, the weight pentathlon and ultra-eight pentathlon.

Stovall, a native of Washington, earned her Bachelor of Arts from Evergreen State College and completed her master’s degree in K-8 elementary education and master’s degree in K-12 special education from the University of Washington.
