Lynchburg Men's Tennis Drops Heartbreaker to Ferrum 5-4

FERRUM, VA - The Lynchburg College men's tennis team won four of the six singles matches but faltered in doubles play as the Panthers of Ferrum College knocked off LC 5-4 in non-conference play Friday.

Ferrum (4-8) won all three doubles contests, but two of the three were back and forth the whole way. Brandon Brown (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) and Brian Nelson (Charlotte, NC/Home schooled) lost a thriller at No. 2 doubles 9-8, falling in 7-2 in the tiebreak. No. 3 doubles finished 8-6 in favor of FC.

In singles play, Brown rallied to win his No. 2 singles play 0-6, 6-4, 6-4 while Nelson took his No. 3 match in straight sets two and four. Dustin Dull (Clifton, VA/Centreville) continued his solid play this season, winning his No. 4 singles match three and four, and Nick Carroll (Atlanta, GA/Holy Innocents) took his No. 5 contest 6-3, 6-7 (7-9), 6-2.

The Hornets entertain Guilford College at 10 a.m. Saturday in their final home ODAC match of the season.
