Lynchburg Field Hockey Blanks Washington & Lee in 4-0 Victory
LEXINGTON, VA – Four different Lynchburg College field hockey players scored on Saturday as LC defeated Washington & Lee University 4-0 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game.
Lynchburg has now won nine-straight games and remains perfect (3-0) in conference play.
Freshman Katie Kline scored at 12:57 of the first half to give LC the 1-0 lead. The goal is Kline's seventh tally of the season.
Junior Lindsay Leonard, who leads the ODAC in goals with 14, scored at 45:13 of the second half off a pass from senior Kristina Morris to give the Hornets a 2-0 advantage. Senior Deanna Smith scored nearly six minutes later to push the lead to three while junior Ashley Nelson added the game's last goal at 69:09 off a feed from junior Shelly Milks for a final of 4-0.
Senior goalie Tiffany Frye made one save in the victory as LC outshot the Generals 29-5 in the game. Washington & Lee (4-5/1-2 ODAC) goalie Kirsten Kyne made six saves in the game.
Lynchburg (9-1/3-0 ODAC) hosts Virginia Wesleyan College on Tuesday afternoon at 5 p.m. on Shellenberger Field.
