LC Field Hockey Blanks Eastern Mennonite 7-0
LYNCHBURG, VA – Six different Lynchburg College field hockey players scored goals on Saturday as LC defeated Eastern Mennonite University 7-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
Reigning ODAC player of the week Lindsay Leonard scored two goals and added an assist in the win.
Lynchburg began the scoring early with a goal from senior Tarah Rahner who scored at 1:18 off an assist from Leonard. LC went into halftime with a 2-0 lead after a goal by Leonard from Katie Kline at 33:39.
Senior Tiffany Frye made two saves in the first half to keep the Royals off the board and made four saves total in the game.
Leonard added another tally at 47:50, which was followed by a goal from senior Kristina Morris to extend the lead to 4-0. Sophomore Melanie Tenney scored off a penalty stroke at 54:37 pushing the lead for the Hornets to five.
Juniors Shelly Milks and Colleen Dore each added a goal in the second half for a 7-0 LC final. Mary Beth Danaher made five saves for Eastern Mennonite (8-8/4-2 ODAC).
Lynchburg outshot the Royals 28-6 in the game and held a 12-4 advantage in penalty corners.
The Hornets travel to Bridgewater College on Tuesday afternoon for a matchup at 4 p.m.

Members of the 1981 field hockey and the 1982 women's lacrosse national finals teams were recognized in a pre-game ceremony. The field hockey team finished the season 24-4-1 with 20 shutouts and the women's lacrosse team was 15-5.
