Leonard Scores Two as #3 LC Defeats Bridgewater 4-1

BRIDGEWATER, VA – Junior attack Lindsay Leonard scored twice Tuesday afternoon to lead the third-ranked Lynchburg College field hockey team to a 4-1 victory at Bridgewater College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.

Sophomore Kelli Williams finished off of her own rebound at 16:31 to put LC on the scoreboard. Leonard scored her first goal at 23:10 and followed 26 seconds later with another tally, assisted by senior Kristina Morris. The Hornets took the 3-0 advantage into halftime.

Freshman Katie Kline scored from Nicole Marburger midway through the second half. The Eagles posted their lone goal with 1:30 left in the contest as Jennifer Bateman found the back of the cage.

The Hornets outshot Bridgewater 19-5 and held a 12-2 edge in penalty corners. Taylor Waddell stopped 13 shots for the Eagles (9-7/5-3 ODAC).

The Hornets (15-1/7-0 ODAC) look to extend their 15-game winning streak Thursday as they face Sweet Briar College at 6:15 p.m.
