Lynchburg drops home matchup to Methodist
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College baseball team was held scoreless by Methodist University on Wednesday, losing 12-0 in non-conference play.
Monarchs starting pitcher Michael Judge went six innings, holding Lynchburg to three hits while walking one. Both teams were scoreless until the fourth inning when Tyler Younger doubled to drive in the first run. Methodist scored six runs in the next two innings before adding five runs in the ninth to finish with a final score of 12-0.
Freshman pitcher Trevor Johnston (Forest, VA/Jefferson Forest) went four and two-thirds innings giving up eight hits and five runs while striking out three. Sophomore relief pitcher Zac Patrick (Midlothian, VA/James River) pitched three and one-third innings only giving up three hits and one earned run, striking out two.
Hornet senior shortstop Richard Palase (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) and senior second baseman Jordan Watkins (Freeland, MD/Hereford) both went 1-3 with one walk in the game.
Dustin Brown went 3-5 with two RBI to lead the Monarchs (9-4) offensively.
Lynchburg (5-6/2-0 ODAC) travels to conference opponent Washington & Lee on Saturday to play a double-header in Lexington. First game starts at noon, with the second following at 2:30 p.m.
