Hornets Power to 13-2 Win at Averett

DANVILLE, VA - Every Hornet position player and the only pinch hitter used had a hit Friday afternoon as the Lynchburg College baseball team cruised to a 13-2 non-conference victory at Averett University.

The Hornets scored three runs in the top of the third on a Michael Del Buono three-run triple. LC added four runs in the sixth frame, with Mike Walters capping the scoring with a two-RBI single. The Hornets tacked on two runs each in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings.

Del Buono was 3-4 and scored two runs and Dan Savage also had three hits. Zach Fitzpatrick went 2-4 with three runs scored and Walters and Richard Palase both had two hits and two RBI. Michael Kenah went 2-5 on the day and Ragan Rudisill and Jake Tanner each drove in two runs.

Zac Patrick improved to 2-0 on the season, working 5 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts while allowing just two hits, three walks and one earned run.

Six different batters had hits for the Cougars (20-15).

The Hornets (16-12) host Roanoke College Saturday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader at 1 p.m.
