Bridgewater Defeats Lynchburg 9-2 in the ODAC Tournament
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College baseball team's season ended with a 9-2 loss to Bridgewater College on Friday night in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament.
Bridgewater advances to play Randolph-Macon College in the finals tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. RMC needs one win to earn the ODAC Championship. Bridgewater would need to beat the Yellow Jackets in the first game to force a deciding game at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Starting pitcher for the Eagles, Tyler Milstead went six and two-thirds innings without giving up a hit to Lynchburg. Millstead threw a complete game, giving up four hits and two runs, striking out six. Bridgewater scored the game's first runs in the third inning and took a 5-0 lead after getting four runs in the fifth inning.
The Hornets broke through in the seventh inning with a hit to right centerfield from senior Mike Walters (Manassas, VA/Osbourn). A two-RBI double from junior Michael Kenah (Clifton, VA/Robinson) in the seventh inning to bring the Hornets within three.
Bridgewater tacked on four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to push the lead to a final of 9-2.
Sophomore Zac Patrick (Midlothian, VA/James River) started for the Hornets, going four and two-thirds innings, relinquishing four hits, five runs (four earned) while striking out three.
Bryan Sanderson and Devon Snow paced the Eagles (26-17) offensively. Both went 2-5 with two RBI respectively.
Lynchburg finishes the 2011 campaign with a 24-15 overall record with a 14-4 record in the ODAC.
