Field Hockey Defeats Wesley 3-1
DOVER, DE – The number three dominated on Sunday as the 13th-ranked Lynchburg College field hockey team defeated Wesley College by a 3-1 margin. It was the third time this season the Hornets have scored three goals in a game, all wins.
Following a scoreless first half, Morgan Lammando deflected a rebound into the cage for her first tally of the season. She added an assist on LC's second goal which came off the stick of Kelsey Link. It was the third time in her career that Lammando notched three points in a game.
Taylor Quillen rounded out the scoring at 45:07 when she took the ball up the left hash and sent it past the keeper.
Devin Price scored the lone goal for Wesley, although the Wolverines continually challenged the Hornets. Jordan Seeley saved 16 shots to keep Wesley at bay.
Sarah Daniels had ten saves for the Wolverines. Lynchburg outshot Wesley 26-20, although the Wolverines (3-4) maintained a 16-6 advantage in penalty corners.
Lynchburg (3-2) travels to Washington & Lee University (1-4) on Tuesday, September 17 for the first Old Dominion Athletic Conference match of 2013 for both teams.
