Hornets End Season with 5-1 Loss to Roanoke in Finale
SALEM, VA – The Lynchburg College men's tennis team played Sunday's match to decision before the rains came through Virginia, falling 5-1 to Roanoke College in the regular season finale for the Hornets.
Lynchburg took three games at No. 2 doubles as Andrew Link and Jordan Falinski teamed up to challenge the Maroons. Singles was also a tough go of things for LC as Peter Conlon and Kelvin Whitehurst completed matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles for the first time this season. Conlon fell 6-0, 6-0, but Whitehurst managed to capture a game in each set.
"I had so much fun playing today. The team we played was very respectable," Whitehurst stated.
Falinski won No. 4 singles by default as his opponent withdrew with the match knotted 2-2 in the first set.
Lynchburg finishes the 2015 season with an 0-12 overall mark while going 0-10 in ODAC play for first-year head coach Josef Manilla.
"The Roanoke team and coach showed an exceptional amount of sportsmanship, I was very impressed with their program," Manilla said about the match with the Maroons.
