Hornet Women's Lacrosse Defeats Marymount 11-8
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team defeated visiting Marymount University 11-8 Saturday in non-conference action to earn its first win of the 2016 season.
The Hornets and Saints were tied at four with 9:20 left in the first half. LC scored seven of the next nine goals to take an 11-6 lead with 4:27 left. Junior attack Laura Meisner had all three of her goals during the 7-2 run.
Senior attack Caroline Carozza posted two goals and two assists, while senior Kat Francis and junior Maddie Koontz each had two goals. Allison Truman and Lindsay Parker also scored.
Francis added three ground balls and Meisner and Alexa Carey forced two turnovers each. Treva Tyson made eight stops between the pipes.
Kelly Campbell, Kellen Campbell and Stephanie Keane had two scores apiece for Marymount (0-2). Abby Wescott handed out two assists and Natalie Tinkham grabbed five draw controls.
The Hornets (1-1) travel to Washington College (MD) for a non-conference game next Saturday at 1 p.m.
