Hornet Baseball defeated 17-3 by Tufts
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College baseball team was defeated 17-3 Friday afternoon by visiting Tufts University (MA) in a non-conference game.
The Jumbos scored two runs in the top of the first, but LC countered with a run in the bottom half of the frame. Drew Taylor scored on an RBI groundout from Nathan Sharp to make the score 2-1. Tufts added another run in the second, two in the fifth, and exploded for nine in the sixth to put the contest out of reach.
Tanner Fulton drove in Sharp for Lynchburg's second run in the fourth inning, and Brendan Cleary grounded out in the eighth to bring home Tyler Johnson.
Tufts (5-3) earned its third win in the last four games.
Jonathan Munn had a hit and a walk for Lynchburg.
The Hornets (7-16) travel to Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader at noon.
