LC Men's Tennis Rallies for 5-4 win over Shenandoah
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College men's tennis team rallied Sunday for a 5-4 win over Shenandoah University in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.
Shenandoah won two of the three doubles matches. Andrew Link and Bryce Barber had an easy 8-1 victory at #2, while Josh Johnson and Dom Gutierrez nearly earned a win at #1, but fell 8-6.
The #1, #2 and #3 singles flights were held next, with SU winning two of the three to go ahead 4-2 in the match. Barber picked up a Hornet win at #2, 6-1, 6-2.
Lynchburg had to win each of the final three singles bouts to take the match, and Nick Savino came through first, 6-4, 6-4 at #6. Jordan Falinski was the next to finish, a hard fought 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 victory at #5. Link and his SU opponent split the first two sets at #4, and he hung on to win 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (8-6) to complete the dramatic comeback.
The Hornets (4-11/2-5 ODAC) travel to Virginia Wesleyan College Wednesday for another conference match at 3:30 p.m.
